Lifesaving

The minimum age to become an active lifesaver is 15 years. The two main lifesaving awards and their prerequisites are:

Surf Rescue Certificate

• Be a minimum of 13 years of age on the date of the final assessment
• Have completed a 200 metre swim in five minutes

Surf Lifesaving Bronze Medallion

• Be a minimum of 15 years of age on the date of the final assessment
• Have completed a 400 metre swim in nine minutes


Remember that lifesaving does not limit members to water-based activities.
We are actively seeking volunteers in all areas of the organization. Lifesaving offers awards and certificates in:

• Resuscitation (Basic and Advanced)
• First Aid (Advanced Emergency Care)
• Powercraft Vehicles (Offshore & Inshore)
• Radio Communications
• Administration & Financial activities

Our vital community service is provided free to the beach going public thanks to many volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to training, patrolling and volunteering at our club. Your membership is an investment in your safety as well as the safety and well being of everyone important to you.
